Two closed doors that Delhi based Ajay Rajgarhia captured in his camera are symbols of a major decision in his life. Two years ago, he closed the door on his garment business, and started taking photos for a living. Photographers say the genre is booming because of its affordability and easy availabilty. A good photographer can be replicated into several editions, whereas a painting has one original edition and limited reprints, which rarely fetch buyers. Says photographer Ajay Rajgharia, the promoter of Wonderwall.co.in, the country's first website dedicated to fine art photography. "People in India are now more aware of photography as an art form because internationally the medium has gained wide acceptance. As aresult, photographers, who have taken it up as a vocation here, are seeing light at the end of the tunnel. There is an assured return at the end of the day."

This e-commerce website is the brainchild of Ajay Rajgarhia. Dedicated to fine art photography, it is a platform to showcase established names and also introduce upcoming photographers. "The website is dedicated to making photography an accessible form of art to the public at large," says Ajay. The website has four photographers on board: Sudip Bhattacharya, Sandeep Biswas, Vikas Malhotra and Ajay, himself.

Travelling is their obsession and clicking photos their hobby. Debesh Banerjee talks to Dr Justin A Gopaldas and Dr Ashlesha Bagadia, the husband-wife duo who put up an exhibition of their works after visiting 18 countries. .... If that was not a record by itself, they put together an exhibition of their photos titled A Long Road Home.... The couple plans to embark on similar journeys in future but say that photography will always remain a passion for them. Like all great journeys, the only souvenirs they got were their photographs. The works are on display till today at the Academy of Fine Arts & Literature. Thereafter, they will be on display on wonderwall.co.in

J. Aryabhat Gopaldas, a 32 year-old physician and Ashlesha Bagadia, a 29 year-old psychiatrist, went to UK four years ago for higher education. By the time they finished their education, they used every opportunity to explore the British countryside and experience .... They are back with a suitcase full of memories in the form of photographs. An exhibition recounting their three-month adventure is on at the Academy of Fine Arts till 17 July. The show is being presented by www.wonderwall.co.in, a site dedicated to fine art photography run by photographer Ajay Rajgarhia. Gopaldas said they are raising funds for Unicef and would be grateful for donations.

Photographers have a new space to display and sell the shots - online galleries ... Delhi-based photographer Ajay Rajgarhia has started a website, www.wonderwall.co.in where photographers can upload their pictures and sell them.... "Photography is what painting was 10 years ago and things are only going to improve for the art form," says Rajgarhia. Also, Rajgharia is concentrating on fine art photography, which an art lover would love to hang on the walls of the home. So the current array has images categorised as Still Life, Monochromes, Nature and Landscape, Abstract, People, etc.

When asked what he defines as fine art photography, Malhotra responded that art is created with an idea in mind. "There are always photos that people will want to put on their walls - and then there are very powerful documentary images that no one would want on their wall. One tries to be on that line," he said, conceding that the demarcation between art and documentary may be blurring.
