Vivek MathewA practicing professional photographer based in Bangalore (India), Vivek Mathew is a budding young Photo Artiste who is fast making a mark in Neo-Art circles of the country.Armed with a two year diploma from one of Asia’s premier institutions, The Light & Life Academy, Ooty, India in 2004 where he specialized in fine art, people travel, documentary and nature photography, Vivek set out his artistic journey with his first solo exhibition ‘I. Opener’ in Bangalore on October 2005 at the Renaissance Gallerie. The exhibition consisted of 32 images on various subjects ranging from still life to portraits and exteriors. He had his second solo exhibition "Waterborne" at Industree in November 2007. The exhibition had 27 images on display & it consisted of water based subjects like ripples, patterns, reflections, refractions, etc. His Fine Art collection speaks for his ability to look at less-than-ordinary surroundings like the best work of the Creator. His penchant for brooding images of light and shade highlight the exalted beauty of mundane things - beauty, that is naked only to the eyes of prized lensmen. This young photographer is fast approaching that elite circle. In his short career as a Photo Artist, Vivek’s photographs have made it to the pages of prestigious various magazines and publications like The Times Journal of photography,Design Today etc. Vivek has also had the opportunity to take the pictures for the Bangalore Traffic Police for the campaign "Don’t Drink and Drive". Goes to show, sobreity has set in him quite early. He has been featured in the India Today Magazine as one of the modern day "Young and Unusual" photographers in Bangalore. Vivek participated at a group show held at the Leela Galleria for the Bangalore Photography Festival in April 2007, he participated in a group show "Shoot Out at Ranga Shankara" which was part of the Theatre Festival at Ranga Shankara in Oct 2007 and also recently participated in a group exhibition "Behind the Lens" which was curated by Ajay Rajgarhia from Delhi at the Mahua Art Gallery in Bangalore in February 2009. On the commercial photography side, Vivek has worked magic to brands like Sterling Developers, Shell, Manipal Education, First Flight, Home Solutions, The Leela Hotel, Vimal, Lenovo, Indus Strong Steel, Thought Works, Wrigley and Belmonte. His photographs have been featured in advertising campaigns that sell dreams to millions of consumers across the country.
