    Leena Kejriwal – Famous Indian Photographer

    Leena Kejriwal ( 1969)

    Licentiate member of the British Institute of Professional Photography (LBIPP), Professional member of Photographers Guild of India (PGI).

    Bilkey Llinas Design, a U.S. based leading interior art consultancy firm has selected a large collection of her prints for all the guest room at the Hyatt Regency in Mumbai and Kolkata in 2002.

    Her print was among the top 10 selected at the Exhibit A, held by the PGI, a forum of the best photographers in India, in 2002 & 2004.

    Has worked with the Divya Chaya Trust (an organization committed for the upliftment of the girl child) to commemorate two decades of their service to society. The exhibition was held in Nehru Centre, London in October, 2004. Barbara Lloyd, renowned British photographer, was the other participant.

    Was invited to go to Hampi in an all India art camp to capture the lingering history there, by the Karnataka State Tourism Corporation in October 2004.

    She was one of the Super Six, the brand ambassadors for Fujifilm for the year 2005.

    Has worked as the principal photographer for a book based on Shiva in Mumbai conceptualized by Rajiv Sethi of the Asian Heritage Foundation.

    In December 2005 was sent to France on their Indo-French “Artists-in-Residence” program initiated by the Cultural Service of the French Embassy in India. A solo exhibition of her works traveled all over the country from July 2006 to May 2007 as a part of the innovative cultural dialogue between the two countries.

    Has worked on editorials for international magazines like Geo, Intersection (U.K) and others.

    Has worked with Apne Aap Worldwide, (April 2006) an NGO working against human trafficking. Created a photographic installation “Spaces, no faces “ with her images which captured the lives of the women living in their spaces.

    Has photographed six craft based cottage industries in villages around Kolkata, for a book called “In the shadows” by Payal Mohanka in 2006.
    Has launched her book “Calcutta: repossessing the city” published by Om Books International and designed by Bina Sarkar Ellias, editor and publisher of Gallerie Magazine, in February 2007.

    Principal photographer for the book, Flurys: The Cake That Walked. She captured the life at Flurys (A Swiss confectionery, which has been a landmark in Kolkata since pre-independence). The book was launched by The Apeejay Group, with the text by Bagchi Kakaria, it was released in November. 2007.

    She has had four solo exhibitions of her works depicting Life on the streets. Her “Kalikatha” series pays homage to her hometown Kolkata and in her still life series “a Life of its own”, in Ranjit Hoskote’s words ”... her eyes dwell on details that form part of everyday life of the thoroughfares…discreet compositions… they assume the role of the still life and become, instead, an occasion to celebrate the vibrancy of the inanimate object…”

    Fuji Super Six Exhibition organized by Fuji film in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Chennai in 2005.

    Bengal & Beyond organized by Art & Soul in September 2005 at Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, Delhi curated by Siddharth Tagore.

    Famous Faces of Kolkata organized by Times of India for their Kolkata festival in January, 2006 at Town Hall.

    On the Streets Of Paris by Leena Kejriwal comprising of her works as “Artist in residence” in France, was exhibited from July 2006 to April 2007 in Trivandrum, Madras, Pune, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Pondicherry, Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata.
